Through Southern Moravia on bike

Explore these web pages by further clicking or unfold a road map. Then you can take your bike and go for a ride across Southern Moravia. This guide is part of an implemented project that has been co-financed within Measure 1.3, Tourist travel and offer of leisure activities – Program of Initiatives of the Community INTERREG IIIA Austria – Czech Republic under the title "Cycling Portal of the South Moravian region linked with Lower Austria".

Take, e.g., the Lednice-Valtice area or the battlefield of Austerlitz where you embrace history, and on the same day you can be confronted with the most topical present in the Brno Exhibition Centre. In the Moravian Karst you can take a deep plunge in the mystic world of underground caves. A few hours later you can admire South Moravia high above the ground from the gallery of some of the numerous outlook-towers.

Southwards from Brno the visitors can meet the "Moravian sun" in its white and red form. Its strength combine with meticulous work and know-how of local people to produce delicious wines whose tasting is enhanced by folk traditions. The National park Podyjí is characterized by the scenic valley of Dyje winding along the border with Austria like a thrown necklace. The  aerial view of the landscape to the North and West from Brno looks like a mosaic composed of woods, brooks and rivers, complemented with dwellings, castles, and churches. The network of cycling tracks is extraordinarily many-sided. The city of Brno has a magic spell based upon its history, its monuments, but also upon its present day. There are many attractive sites in the region and disclosing them does not require any particularly fast vehicle. A bicycle will do.

South Moravia is really a gem for cycling tourists. In order to facilitate their ride, the real South Moravian world has been complemented with a virtual one launched in Autumn 2007:
